BERLIN PATTERN No. 10

FUNDRAISING

OUR FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN HAS STARTED!  GOAL: 5000 USD / 6125 CAD AND CURRENTLY AT 91%

To keep our Library up and running, we hold a fundraising campaign from September to December.

This is the link to the donation button: Donate to keep the Antique Pattern Library running!

If you can’t afford to donate, but would like to help the Antique Pattern Library, introducing the Library to people who don’t know of it yet, is very useful, since it broadens our user base and therefore also our future donor base. Blogs, Tiktok, Instagram, Pinterest, Ravelry, Facebook, other social media – show others your favorite publications and what you made using them. Our work is only useful when people actually use it!

If that is not possible either, just enjoy our new publications either for inspiration or for your own work!

NEW PUBLICATION

G-KB005 Berlin Pattern No. 10 – Border and two squares
Single sheet with two borders and two square designs, market “Designed expressly for the Young Ladies Journal”. Atelier Formstecher. Bright colors. The two squares and the narrow border can be used as a separate border design, or as separate motifs. No date given, possibly a supplement for an issue of this journal.
Image donated by ebay seller kel_boy, edited and charted by Sytske Wijnsma.

This is a late pattern, printed instead of handpainted like the older Berlin patterns. And where the older patterns had complex motifs with many colors, and often with larger stitch width and length, this one can be split into smaller parts if the complete pattern is too large for the children for which it was intended. However the oldest handpainted Berlin patterns could be also quite small and limited in colors, so maybe this means the design wheel had made a full turn when this pattern was published. As to possible uses, we leave that to the readers imagination. Because the design elements are small and simple, they can be used as base of many new designs that are totally your own.
