D.M.C. Knitted Facecloths
FUNDRAISING
OUR FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN HAS STARTED! GOAL: 5000 USD / 6125 CAD AND CURRENTLY AT 98%!
To keep our Library up and running, we hold a fundraising campaign from September to December.
This is the link to the donation button: Donate to keep the Antique Pattern Library running!
If you can’t afford to donate, but would like to help the Antique Pattern Library, introducing the Library to people who don’t know of it yet, is very useful, since it broadens our user base and therefore also our future donor base. Blogs, Tiktok, Instagram, Pinterest, Ravelry, Facebook, other social media – show others your favorite publications and what you made using them. Our work is only useful when people actually use it!
If that is not possible either, just enjoy our new publications either for inspiration or for your own work!
NEW PUBLICATION
J-PA026 DMC – Make a “Softie” Face Cloth
Knitted face cloths with a loop, one bordered, one striped. Advertising leaflet 101 from DMC, no date, no copyright notice, not even the name of the company – can only be DMC in view of the yarn advertised. Sans-serif letter type, probably end fifties.
From the collection of Iva Rose Reproductions, scanned by Nettie Kraaij, edited by Sytske Wijnsma.
The advised Tricot 171 is a “soft thread resembling wool”, according to the last page of the leaflet. It makes one wonder how such a facecloth would be used and washed, which probably would be done frequently. Small knitted facecloths could be useful in a travel bag, since they would be fluffy but not too bulky. Since there’s no restriction on colors, maybe a nice present for someones Christmas sock? The cloth could be personalized with an over-embroidered initial, to make sure that if there are six hanging on hooks, you’d pick your own one and not one of a family member, because that’s the way skin problems spread.
