Number 140 in a long, long, list of various (160) subjects, starting off with French geography and government organization, followed by French grammar. This appears to be a series of general education leaflets, and judging from the contents of this single one, they might have been quite useful in giving a general overview of the subjects. There was a similar series in our country, and they were quite popular as introduction to the subject. For collectors they are difficult to find, because of the low value of the individual issues and also, because the quality of paper and printing were a lower priority than the cost. This booklet had missing letters, double letters, letters upside down, damaged letters, blank spots where the text was missing or so pale that the ink must have been running out as well. That has mostly been edited out and corrected.
The images are clear and show how to hold your hands and how to use the measuring stick and the shuttle. Funny is that in every image there are different cuffs on the sleeves, not just copy-paste off the previous image.
The booklet pays specific attention to the various types of filet – fishing net, net for hammocks, net for embroidery. Usually when filet is mentioned in other publications it’s filet for embroidery or filet as lace with decorative knotting. If you want to get started in filet (and can read French) this is a good guide for beginners.
